2020 Homecoming Rally is Canceled
We regret to inform the ATC Owners community that we have decided to cancel the 2020 "Homecoming Rally" at Elkhart County Fairgrounds, May 25-28.
The decision comes after the Indiana Governor announced on Friday, May 1, 2020, that all social gatherings shall not exceed 25 people, at least until May 24. Our rally was expected to host between 70 to 100 people. At that time, the governor would make a decision to increase that to 100 people, based on certain infection and testing criteria having been met. Elkhart County Fairgrounds, who have been assuring us our rally would continue, could no longer guarantee us availability after the governor's announcement.
With these uncertainties, and without a guarantee, we couldn't risk the vacation time and travel expenses of our attendees.
Moreover, ATC Toy Haulers sent us a letter on the same day, explaining that they will be canceling the factory tour, and that they will not be sending representatives to the rally. This decision was made primarily to limit their employee exposure to COVID-19. See attached ATC letter below.
In addition, our rally sponsor, Premier Custom Trailers, informed us that they will not be attending the rally either. This also means they will not be on hand to perform the "Tech Time" demonstration, nor meet with owners for one-on-one tech consultation. That decision was also made to limit employee exposure to COVID-19.
We had an additional sponsor, Janus Motorcycles, a boutique motorcycle builder in Goshen, IN, who was to provide the additional funds needed to break-even on our expenses, canceled their sponsorship.
We sought to reschedule the rally, however, there are too many variables working against us. For one, dozens of other rallies that were already scheduled for last April and this May, are given first priority to reschedule. But two, being pushed back into July, August, or September meant camping in hotter temperatures and higher humidity. But also, we recognize that many of you owners may or may not be able to attend those dates. In addition, ATC Toy Haulers is not clear that they will allow factory tours in the future.
We have worked every day trying to keep the rally going. We kept talking to all organizations involved on a weekly basis. But with the governor's decision, the lack of guarantee from the Fairgrounds, the change of position from ATC Toy Haulers, Premier Custom Trailers canceling their attendance, and Janus Motorcycles pulling back their funding, we couldn't hold it together any longer.
At this point, ATC Owners will look to hold a rally at a different location, at a time when pandemic panic stabilizes. We will however, look to organize small "camp outs" ranging from 3 to 6 trailers over a weekend. If you are interested in helping us organize a camp out, please call or text me (Sash) at (951) 660-7192.
